Obituary for Carl Brandt

Carl E. Brandt, 88, of Daugherty Township, passed away, Friday evening, February 14, 2014, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born May 10, 1925, in Fredonia (Mercer Co.), he was the youngest and last survivor of six children of James and Clodie (Mecklem) Brandt. Following his high school graduation, Carl served in the US Navy aboard the USS Goff during World War II. On June 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Patty (Thompson). Carl was a retiree of J&L Steel (Tin Mill), Aliquippa Works, where he was a foreman. He was a 50+-year member of both Monaca United Methodist Church and Big Knob Grange. A dedicated father and grandfather, he faithfully attended all of his granddaughter’s functions, including cheerleading, dancing and softball.

In addition to his beloved wife, Carl leaves two daughters, Lois Beebout and her husband, Charles, of New Brighton and Cindy Kibler and her husband, Jim, of Monaca; two granddaughters, Nicole and Mandy Kibler, both of Monaca and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Honneffer, and Robbie Honneffer.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. His pastor, Rev. David Vaughn, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Drs. Jansma, Brett, Odem and Bozek and the critical care staff of Heritage Valley Beaver for the exceptional care Carl received.
