Obituary for John R. "J.D." Dockter

John R. ‘J.D.’ Dockter, 57 of Monaca passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb 17, 2014 after a brief illness. He went peacefully with his family at his side.

Born October 28, 1956, in Rochester, he was a son of Patricia McDonald Dockter, of Monaca, and the late Robert E. Dockter. A graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1974, J.D. was employed at LTV Steel, Aliquippa Works, for several years before earning a degree from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) in 1989, and was currently employed as an aircraft mechanic with Bombardier, West Virginia Air Center, in Clarksburg, W. Va. J.D. enjoyed refereeing WPIAL High School Football for over 20 years and especially spending quality time with family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Betty Jo (Santoro); two daughters, Allison Dockter of Pittsburgh and Emily (Brad Kunz) Dockter of Bellevue; a sister, Bobbi Connifey of Chippewa; a brother, Randy Dockter of Monaca; loving in-laws, Carol Petrella, Carl Santoro and Janice Santoro, all of Monaca, and Al (Sandi) Santoro of Kalamazoo, Mich., and a special niece, Elizabeth Mogyorosi, along with many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Betty Jo’s cousin, The Most Reverend Lawrence T. Persico, J.C.L., bishop of Erie will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Virgina Avenue and 15th Street, Monaca, PA 15061, or Penn State Dance Marathon, THON, Attn: Finance, 210 HUB, University Park, PA 16802.
