Condolence From: James Lakas
Condolence: JD was and always will be one of the greatest guys I ever met. He was so kind and friendly and also a great host. I remember visiting my brother who was sharing an apartment with JD many years ago when he worked for US Air. We went out and had a great time. There are many stories and memories about JD I can think of, but the one I remember most was the monumental home run he hit into the police cruiser that Timmy Brush wrote about in the previous condolence. I looked up to many athletes from the class of 1974 and believe me there were alot of them but none of them made an impression on me like JD Dockter. He always took the time to say hi and talk to me as a freshman and I idolized him. I know that sounds korney but I think that home run he hit always stayed with me. He was one of a kind and so very Cool! Stay strong BJ and family.

Condolence: BJ, Patty, Bobbi, Randy and families,
I'm sorry i missed the service for John but glad i had a brief visit with you (Betty Jo and Patty) earlier this week. I thought i'd share two anecdotes that include John as the 'star'. 1) we were probably 10 -12yrs old and playing in Allaire Park across from Gary's (he may have been there). We came across some poison ivy and JD boasted that he was immune to its effects, and to prove it he rubbed a bunch all over himself. Guess how that turned out!

2) few probably know about the first one but i'm guessing that just about everybody from Monaca near our age that is interested in sports, particularly baseball, knows this one. John played little league for the Lions and was a good left handed power hitter. Apparently he was pretty accurate too as he launched a home run over the right field fence and it landed inside a police car parked on Allaire Ave! Some interesting trivia (at least to me) would be, what team were they playing, who was the pitcher, and who was the cop driving the car that evening?

I hope you all are able to celebrate John's life today with many loved ones surrounding you. Our deepest sypathies to you and your families.

Condolence: Dear "J.D."'s Family,
Was so saddened to hear of John's untimely passing. He was such a wonderful guy and always had a good word and a smile for you. He was a very good official and loved his rounds of golf. One of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I ever had was spent with John and fellow football officials, Chuck Costanza and Ron Churchin. John will be missed. God Bless to the Dockter family. Peace be with you and also with John.
Sincerely, Randy Coz

Condolence: Betty Jo,
My prayers are with you and your family at this time while we honor a great man. J.D. always had a smile on his face and and made us all laugh. I recall the football games that he would play for Monaca and how everyone enjoyed being around him. He lit up the world being here and he will light up heaven.
