Obituary for Helen D. Martin (Bibby)

Helen D. Martin, 69, of Brighton Township, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 2, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 12, 1940, at home in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine (Ebel) Bibby. Helen retired from Duquesne Light Co. where she was employed as a clerk at the power plant. She and her husband, Kenneth B. Martin, celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 17, 2009. Helen was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed needlepoint. She also spent her leisure time tending to her garden. Helen was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Beaver.

In addition to her loving husband, Kenneth, she leaves two daughters, Cheryl Pyle and her husband, Dave, of New Brighton and Diane Johnston and her husband, Mike, of Hopewell Township; a son, Kenneth Martin and his wife, Cindy, of Monaca; six grandchildren, Mallory, Melissa, Kenneth, Matthew, Alexander and Logan; two brothers, William Bibby and Robert Bibby; five sisters, Georgine McCormick, Linda Reese, Debbie Holdren, Sandy Strand and Susan Donohoe; her mother-in-law, Dianna Martin; two brothers-in-law, Richard Martin and Timothy Martin and a sister-in-law, Elsie Spearing.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 4, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000), where prayers will be offered Saturday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Beaver. Rev. Father Michael Decewicz, pastor, will be the celebrant.

Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Township.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Catholic Hospice, Wexford, for the compassionate treatment Helen received while under their care.
