Carl C. ‘Buck’ Vanats, 72, formerly of Bulger, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 19, 2011, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born March 13, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles and Maylyn (Pietrowski) Vanats. Buck retired from US Airways following 24 years of service. He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing, hunting and camping at Pymatuning State Park.

He leaves is wife of 28 years, Barbara J. (Ely) Vanats; two daughters, Amy Teresa Moore in Florida and Deborah (Mike) McDonald of Monaca; four sons, Stephen (Amy) Phillips of Monaca, Alex (Loni) Phillips of New Brighton, Dan (Tammie) Phillips of Monaca and Bill (Teresa) Phillips of Center Twp.; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Carol Parker in Midway.

Friends will be received Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services , 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where a blessing service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Monaca.

The family wishes to thank staff of 2 East at Friendship Ridge for the care Buck received over the last four years.
