Ruth E.  Kinkead (Cushnen)
Ruth E. Kinkead, 81, a lifelong resident of Monaca, passed away Thursday night, September 27, 2012, at Lakeview Personal Care Center in Darlington.

Born March 6, 1931, in the Fifth Ward of Monaca, she was a daughter of the late William and Barbara Glass Cushnen. A graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1949, Ruth was a member of the cheerleading squad for the school. A very spiritual and devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, she was a past president of Christian Mothers and a member of Catholic Daughters of America. In her prime Ruth managed the school cafeteria and was a sponsor for the cheerleading squad. She was also a member of Monaca Post 580 Ladies Auxiliary.

She found tremendous joy in being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth enjoyed following and supporting her family’s sports interests and freely gave of her time and talents for her family and friends. Love was the theme of her life.

She was united in marriage to John Kinkead 62 years ago and together they raised and nurtured six adoring children, John Kinkead and his wife, Peggy, of W. Chester, Pa., Miriam Cortese and her husband, Ed, of Patterson Twp., Michael Kinkead and his wife, Sherry, of Ellwood City, Timothy Kinkead and his wife, Karen, of Virginia Beach, Va., Kathy Salazar and her husband, Jorge, of Branchburg, N.J., and Matthew Kinkead and his wife, Jennifer, of Harker Heights, Texas. She will be sadly missed by a special daughter-in-law, Pam Kinkead of E. Palestine, Ohio; her fifteen grandchildren, Patrick Kinkead, Josh (Kristen) Huber, Jeremy (Adrian) Huber, Ryan (Natalia) Huber, Stacy (Roy) St. George, Ben Stiffler, Mitchell Stiffler, Tim (Sara) Kinkead, Jonathan Kinkead, Jeffery Kinkead, Terri (Joe) McGath, Jennifer Salazar, Stephanie Salazar, Katelyn Kinkead and Connor Kinkead; her ten great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Warren Renner of Pittsburgh and Pete (Fran) Kinkead and many loving nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents Ruth was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Vincent Kinkead and three sisters, Marian (Steve) Leitschaft, Thelma (Dale) Boren and Doris Renner.

Family and friends will be welcome Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Monaca. Rev. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s memory to St. John the Baptist Catholic School, 15th St. and Virginia Ave, Monaca, PA 15061.
