Obituary for Ann Olshanski (Miazowicz)

Ann 'AnnieO' Olshanski, 96 years old, of Beaver and formerly of Ridge Road in Monaca, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Ann was the daughter of the late Michael and Aniela Miazgowicz of Aliquippa. Born in Chester, WV, on January 5, 1917, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Anthony Olshanski, on March 27, 2001.

AnnieO is survived by a son, Martin and Carol Olshanski of Cranberry Township; daughter, Marlene 'Myna' Sadowski of Seven Fields, and five grandchildren, Christie (Eric) Markowitz of Collegeville, PA; Kerrie (Bob) Wolfe of Hershey, PA; John (Stephanie) Sadowski of Wakefield, MA; Bradley (Rhonda) Olshanski of North Huntington, and Dr. Krysia (Jeff) Zancosky of Gibsonia, PA.

Baci is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, Sydnie and Max Markowitz; Colin, Kennedy, and Grady Wolfe; Blake Sadowski; Manya, AJ, and Jasiu Olshanski, and Cooper, Caroline, Neeva, and Juliette Zancosky.

Her brother, Edward (Irene) Miazgowicz, lives in Clare, MI. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Julian, and Joseph Miazgowicz.

Ann was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Monaca for 70 years and a member of the St. John's choir until she was 94 years old. AnnieO was an avid reader and began her career at the Curtiss-Wright Plant as secretary to the President. She was also employed by the PA Department of Public Assistance as a clerk typist for ten years.

Ann was a proud member of the Polish National Alliance and also the Polish Women's Alliance. Through the years her Polish heritage was treasured as she was an avid polka dancer and polka listener. She was very active in the establishment of the PNA Club in Monaca. Ann was a great seamstress as well as a dessert lover. She spent much of her time reading and collecting recipes. Ann loved to play pinochle as well as visiting the casino. She did water aerobic classes through the years and enjoyed her nightly games of nickel bingo at the King Beaver Apartments since 2001.

A memorial Mass will be held for Ann on Saturday, February 16, 2013. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Ruffalo at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca. Baci will be greatly missed by all her family.
