Peter J. Caltury, Sr., 92, of Monaca, was called to his Heavenly Home on Friday, June 28, 2013. His passing occurred at Rochester Manor.

Born May 9, 1921, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Frank C. and Mary (Valicenti) Caltury. A 1938 graduate of Monaca High School, Pete honorably served in the US Marine Corps during World War II and went on to graduate from Garfield Business School, attended Duquesne University and later graduated from Robert Morris Business School. Pete was first employed at Pittsburgh Tool & Steel and later at Westinghouse Electric in Vanport and retired as a Sr. Purchasing Agent at H.H. Robertson in Ambridge. A member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca, Pete formerly served as an usher and was a former member of the church bowling league. He was a life member of Monaca Turners and Monaca Sons of Italy and a member Monaca American Legion Post 580. Pete enjoyed making new friends every week. As a ‘regular’ at the Senior Center at the Mall, he would commonly ask when first meeting a new friend, “Are you married?”

In addition to his parents Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maryjane Hellmann Caltury; an infant son, John Caltury; a daughter, Janet Caltury in 1979; a son, Peter Joseph ‘Joe’ Caltury, Jr. in 2011; four brothers, Peter, Anthony, James #1 and James #2 and a sister, Madeline.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Francesco Caltieri and his wife, Lois, of Somerset, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Beverly R. Smith Caltury of Hopewell Township; two granddaughters, Brandi Maria Caltieri and Rachel Elizabeth Poulton; two great-grandchildren, Seth Poulton and Grace Alexandra Poulton; a sister, Marianne Bianco of Monaca; a sister-in-law, Florence Hellmann; numerous nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. His pastor, Rev. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and residents of Rochester Villa and Manor for the love and wonderful care Pete received during his stay.
