Obituary for Rita Regina Brummitt (Gribben)

Rita Regina  Brummitt (Gribben)
Rita Regina Brummitt, 87, a lifelong resident of Monaca passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 in Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Beaver.

Born March 2, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Daniel T. and Martha (Kramer) Gribben. Following graduation from Monaca High School in 1944, Rita and Morros ‘Mo’ Earl Brummitt were united in marriage on Nov. 1, 1947. Rita soon took on the role as homemaker and wife and later as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Rita was a devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church , Monaca and Christian Mothers of the church. Socially, Monday evenings were reserved for card club. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She leaves her children: George T Brummitt of Monaca; Dr. Gregory E. Brummitt and his wife, Judith of Brighton Twp.; Lynn A Kalember and her husband, Gregory of Beaver; Mark J. Brummitt and his wife, Barb of Monaca and Brad M. Brummitt and his wife, Lois of Beaver. Twelve grandchildren: Jeffrey (Holly) Brummitt, Stephanie (John) Kelly, Erica (Joseph) Devine, Brian Brummitt, Michael (Megan) Piotrowski, Sara (Sean) Regan, Katherine Brummitt, Bradley Brummitt, Jr., Shea Brummitt, Michael Caltury, Tony Caltury and Adam Caltury. Three great grandchildren: Aiden, Brennan and Cailin.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence in 1970; husband, Morros in 1998 and her only sister, Mary Catherine Romigh.

Friends will be received Tuesday, Sept 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be given, if desired in her memory to St John the Baptist Catholic School, 15th Street and Virginia Ave., Monaca, PA. 15061

The family wishes to thank the critical care nurses and Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Beaver for the care and concern given to Rita during her stay.
