Obituary for Anna D. Olash (Knopp)

Anna D. Olash, 84, of Monaca, passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, 2008, at Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township surrounded by her loving sons.

Born Aug. 21, 1923, in Monaca, she was a daughter of the late R. Howard Sr. and Martha Mae (Beal) Knopp. In 1942, Anna and Stanley "Penny" Olash, Sr. were united in marriage in West Virginia. Stanley preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1996. A lifelong resident of Monaca, she was a 1941 graduate of Monaca High School and a member of Monacrest Free Methodist Church, Monaca. Anna formerly served as a Sunday School teacher and secretary/treasurer of the Women's Missionary International of the church.

She leaves five sons, Stanley Olash, Jr. and his wife, Eleanor (Torres), of Ohioville; Kenneth Olash and his wife, Charlotte, of Mesa, Ariz.; Keith Olash and his wife, Kathleen Bernard of Pittsburgh; Donald Olash of Alexandria, Va., and Edward Olash of Monaca; three grandchildren, Brian Olash, Steven Olash and Joseph Olash; four great-grandchildren, Collin, Emily, Brent and Lacee Shea; two brothers, R. Howard (Virginia) Knopp, Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., and Edward (Elaine) Knopp of Center Township; a sister, Alice Biskup of Center Township, and a sister-in-law, Mary Olash, Beaver Falls.

In addition to her husband and parents, Anna was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Biskup; three brothers, Paul, Donald and Gerald Knopp; four sisters-in-law, Julia (Steve) Ragula, Sophie Gates, Helen (Mike) Olshanski and Mary Olash, and three brothers-in-law, Frank (Josephine) Olash, Walter Olash and John (Frieda) Olash.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000).

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Monacrest Free Methodist Church, corner of Elmira and Walnut Streets, Monaca, with Rev. Doug Rabe, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Monacrest Free Methodist Church, 995 Elmira Ave., Monaca, Pa. 15061.
