Known for his love of life, family, friends and poker, Kenneth A. Kiefer, 79, of Brighton Township, died Wednesday afternoon, November 20, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Brighton Township.



Born April 30, 1934, in Wellsville, NY, he was a son of the late Alvin and Marie (Robinson) Kiefer. Ken proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1992, he retired from Heckett Engineering as the director of international operations with over 30 years of employment. He was member of American Legion, Post 580, where he served as a commander for two terms, and was a former member of the Beaver County Special Unit. His family and friends found Ken to be a charismatic teacher with a wealth of knowledge.



Surviving are his wife, Irene (Sumioka) Kiefer; four children, Rick (Marge), Kevin (Debbi); Tracy (Aaron) Stephens and Marla (Ken) Brunton; a sister, Phyllis (David) Morrow and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy, and a brother, Harold.



Friends will be received Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. Pastor David Wilson of First United Methodist Church of Aliquippa will officiate.



Full military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
