Obituary for Edward S. Cunningham

Edward S. Cunningham, 81, of Vanport, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at the Beaver Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, South Beaver Twp.

Born February 23, 1932, in Potter Twp., he was a son of the late Robert Sr. and Marie (Coakley) Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and was a retiree of Lava Crucible Steel in Zelienople. Following his retirement from the Lava Crucible, he worked for several years as a van driver for HAP Enterprises Inc. in Hopewell Twp.

Ed married the former Margaret E. Standley in 1958, who survives. The couple first made their home in Hopewell Twp. and for the past 17 years have resided in Vanport. Ed also leaves two sons: Edward Cunningham and his wife, Nora of Monaca and John Cunningham and his wife, Jamie of Hopewell Twp.; three grandsons: Paul, Brandon and Michael.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Cunningham, Jr. and J. Richard Cunningham.

Friends will be received today, Dec. 27, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, 724-728-4000, where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald Kronk officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery, New Beaver Boro., where military honors will be provided.
