Obituary for James C. Sturges

James C. Sturges, 78, formerly of Chippewa passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan 1, 2014.
Born June 26, 1935 in Big Beaver, Jim was a son of the late Joseph and May (Roadman) Sturges.
Following graduation from the former Darlington High School, Jim enlisted in the U S Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. After returning home, he gained employment with B & W in Beaver Falls. In 1973, Jim completed studies and was awarded an electrical certification diploma from Community College of Beaver County. He later retired from B & W as an electrician following 36 years of service.
He was a member of the Monaca American Legion Post #580 and the Voiture Locale #836 of 40 & 8. Jim was a most notably a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates fan and was Presbyterian by faith.
Jim was the last surviving child of seven.
He leaves his wife of 36 years, Geraldine ‘Jerrilee’ Sturges of Monaca and a
son,Jerry Smith of Beaver. Also by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Friday, Jan. 3rd from 2-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where services will be held on Saturday at 11 am. with the Reverend Carl Neely, officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
The family has requested FLOWERS TO BE OMITTED due to allergies and that memorial contributions be made, if desired to the Parkinson Foundation of Western PA., 3468 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
