Obituary for Selena A. Sebastian (Sebastian)

Selena A. Sebastian, of Monaca, passed away on her 89th birthday, Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2014, at Arden Courts of North Hills.

She was the last and youngest of ten children of the late Guy and Anna Rossi Sebastian. Selena was born, raised and resided her entire life in the family residence in Monaca. A graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1943, she also attended Geneva College. A certified laboratory technician she had previously worked at Divine Providence Hospital in Pittsburgh and later at Sewickley Valley Hospital, from where she retired. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca. Selena also enjoyed traveling and was an original member of ‘The Kardettes’ card club who met the first Thursday of each month.

She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lou (the late William) Sebastian of Monaca and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Her pastor, Rev. Fr. Michael Ruffalo, will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

The family has suggested memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1409 Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061.
