Obituary for Ruth A. Chimile (Hubbard)

Ruth A. (Hubbard) Chimile “Nanna”, 89, formerly of Monaca and a resident of Friendship Ridge, Beaver, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Born March 17, 1924, in Wislow, England, she was a daughter of the late John and Frances Hubbard. Ruth was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur R. Chimile, Sr., who passed away in 1998. Besides her parents and her husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ted in New Zealand and Peter in England; three sisters, Elena in Australia and Patty and Ann in England. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Artillo and Sarafina Chimile and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis (Mary) Chimile, Christy (Yohanna) Ciamelle, Cab Chimile, Armina (Anthony) Montini and Iona “Lee” (Dante) Verdoni.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Arthur “Rick” and Roberta Chimile and Glenn Chimile. She was very proud of her four granddaughters, Dawn (Jason) Stanford, Regina (Joe) Dewhirst, Jami Chimile and Robin Chimile. Ruth was also Great-Nanna to Natalie, Cameron and Nathan Stanford; Matthew and Melissa Dewhirst and Jossillin and Jayla Kirkwood. Also surviving are a sister, June Evans in England, a sister-in-law, Ada Hubbard in England, a sister-in-law, Alice Chimile and numerous nieces and nephews worldwide.

Ruth enjoyed camping in Erie with her family. She enjoyed fishing with her husband in their boat on Lake Arthur. Her favorite pastime was working in her flower garden. Ruth also enjoyed knitting sweaters, scarves and afghans for her family. When you went to visit Ruth, she would always ask you to sit and have a cup of tea with her.

Friends will be received Saturday, Feb. 22nd from 2 pm until the time of a blessing service at 5 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Township at a later date.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff on 3 West and Annex 3 at Friendship Ridge and Heartland Hospice. Your kindness and compassion towards Ruth will always be appreciated.
