Michael M.  Olshanski
Michael Martin Olshanski, age 76, of Edgecombe Apts., Monaca, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 22, 2011.

Born November 1, 1934, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Michael and Helen (Olash) Olshanski. Following graduation from Monaca High School, Mike entered the US Army on July 7, 1957, and served with the 3rd Missile Battalion stationed in Germany. During his two years of military service, Mike thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout Germany.

He was formerly employed with the Beaver County Times’ display advertising department and later with the Monaca School District.

A talented, self- taught watercolor and oil artist, he was also a gifted accordion player, enjoyed photography and gardening and was truly a resilient individual.

He is survived by a sister, Barbara A. Olshanski of Monaca, a sister-in-law, Nadine Olshanski of Monaca; three nephews and a niece, Paul H. Olshanski, Jr. of Beaver, Karen Flynn (Mindy McClellan) of Clarksburg, Md., Michael Flynn of Wilsall, Mont. and Thomas Flynn (Sarah Hamlen) of State College, Pa. Michael is also survived by many cousins with a special fondness of Anne McCauley of Monaca, and close friends, Chet Kozlowski and Jo Kovac of Monaca and Barbara Kosan of Victorville, Calif.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded by his only brother, Paul H. Olshanski, Sr., in 1998.

Friends will be received Sunday, Sept. 25th from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. Private entombment will take place in Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Beaver County Cancer & Heart Association, 3582 Brodhead Rd., Suite 201, Monaca, PA 15061.
